a california friend: ramesh rampertab (we met at betelbox spore in his 3 months of journey in Asia) told me that my page is full of my mother-tounge words so that he can't read it all. .
his complaint hit me so much.. i'm 27 n still living in nowhere.. no great-n-fabulous-n-fancy job.. no cute n fussy bambinos.. the worst is even i can't express my self in an international language.. (contohnya maksa banget ;p)
pfew.. people said this must be a-quarterlife crisis. u feel so hopeless n unlikely to do anything.. but nope.. this is not a crisis. i'm just doing a backward (n also very stupid!) step. hey, at least i'm moving.. (but not kinda forward moving, andini!!). u call it crisis when the situation is so bad n everything are in the constantly no motion condition before it is decided: be gone or exist.. (ngeles ahhh...).
anyway, i''ll improve my english, i promise.. n try 2 speak my mind so loud in this international language..
*btw, there's another int'l language, instead of english.. it is L.O.V.E. poww!!*
maaf ya kl englishnya masih basic 2 ;D.. usaha toh?

The only thing that stop us from being more advanced in the international oommunity is the language barrier. Nobody doubts Indonesian people diligence when they really put their mind on to something, nobody raised question about Indonesian people ingenuity and local creativity, nobody wonders anymore about Indonesian technological potential should we given the chance. What we lack is our ability to communicate, both in term of language skill and how to express our ideas efficiently. You're on the right track, Grasshopper.

hey andini! its ramesh, from california, the mythic land of sun and sea and deserts and mountains, and the heart wild-afraid of nothing.
hehehe. i googled my name, and see you mentioned me in ur blog! sry, i did not mean to hurt ur feelings. i only meant by the comment that i could not read most of ur blog cuz it was in indonesian. that does not say anything bad about u or ur ability. it may well say more about mine, that i need to learn more languages.
its true that english is the lingua franca, mostly because of commerce and the very powerful influences of the anglo saxon countries. it is a reality that to be successful in the world of trade and ideas and money and the internet, english is necessary. it may well turn out to be a good thing a hundred years from now, when everyone claims "new modern english" to be their own tongue. this is harder for cultures and regions that are not natively english, or disposed. but, i hope with time, and younger generations, we will be able to talk like family.
right now, im studying hungarian at ucla, almost 2 years now. whew! what a tough language! i love languages. because to make an inner feeling into words, and then back again into inner feelings in ur listener, that is a communion of minds.
and,,, the mother tongue of us all... is unspeakable.
